Noise Control and Sound Protection
Implement adequate sound protection for healthy living conditions
Adequate sound protection is crucial for healthy living conditions, as there are many different types and sources of noise, such as commercial and industrial noise, traffic noise and noise from sports or leisure facilities, which can affect our environment.
Thus, a wide variety of noise protection guidelines must be followed (e.g. in Germany the Technical Instruction on Noise Abatement (TA Lärm), 16th BImSchV, 18th BImSchV), which are based on noise measurements or noise calculations and on the analysis of the determined noise immissions using certain guideline or limit values.
We help you comply with the noise protection guidelines
The noise protection guidelines largely depend on the time of day and night as well as the type of area being protected. Due to the need for peace and quiet, residential areas are subject to higher protection requirements than, for example, the residential use in commercial areas or outdoor areas.
It is primarily the ever more densely settled urban areas where noise is increasingly causing conflicts. And if you want to meet both the residents' need for peace and quiet and the requirements for plant operations, you must consider various noise-related principles in land-use planning and approval procedures.
We at TÜV Rheinland support you in this process: Our experienced specialists cover almost all aspects and help you to ensure adequate noise and sound protection.
Benefit from our services for your sound protection:
- Calculation of noise immissions: Using software-assisted 3D models, we calculate the expected noise immissions in the vicinity of businesses (e.g. industrial and commercial noise, traffic routes and sports and leisure facilities.)
- Assessments and forecasts: During the inspections, we assist you with both assessments and forecasts.
- Noise reduction measures and construction monitoring: We implement noise abatement measures and conduct construction monitoring, advise on discussions regarding the state of technology and develop solutions for complex situations.
- Acceptance tests: As a registered measuring body in Germany and internationally accredited according to ISO 17025, we carry out acceptance tests based on emission and immission measurements.
- Support with urban development planning procedures: We assist with urban land-use planning procedures in all situations (e.g. establishment of housing, commercial areas, sports facilities, and recreational areas) and carry out the relevant noise measurements or noise dispersion calculations.
- Noise contingent calculations: As complex situations can require the measurement and calculation of both noise affecting a planned development as well as noise expected to be emitted from the planned development, we carry out noise contingent calculations. In addition, we draft proposals for textual stipulations in the development plan.
- Measurements based on the Outdoor Directive 2000/14/EC: Available both in our in-house test facilities and on-site at your premises.
- Workplace measurements: In companies of any kind and assessed e.g. in Germany based on the Workplace Directive A3.7 Noise (ASR A3.7 Lärm) and the Noise and Vibrations Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (LärmVibrationsArbSchV).
