Quality Management Acute Pain Therapy
Purpose
Through professional pain management you can help patients recover more quickly by giving them targeted, individual assistance in managing acute pain. Obtaining certification in acute pain therapy will help improve the satisfaction level of your patients.
A tolerable level with as few side effects as possible
The objective of the “Acute pain therapy” certification is to alleviate as far as possible pain arising shortly before, during, or after an operation – and without side-effects if at all possible.
Focus on the individual
Acute pain therapy puts the individual’s needs above all others. As a physician, you respond to the individual needs of patients and their subjective pain perception. After an operation, the patients themselves show you the extent of their pain on a scale. You then determine the optimum pain relief on the basis of this subjective estimate and the operation that has been performed.

How to become certified as part of the pain-free clinic initiative
Your route to professional pain management
1. Preparation for certification (assessment of eligibility for certification)
Our auditors analyze the current pain management provision at your clinic and assess your general eligibility for certification on the basis of a list of criteria.
2. Pre-audit
The pre-audit is compulsory. Our auditors determine the extent to which your acute pain therapy QM system meets the requirements; this will include an on-site visit.
3. Certification audit
You demonstrate the practical application of your acute pain therapy and our auditors test its effectiveness.
4. Issue of certificate
Once all criteria have been met, your company will receive its certificate, certifying the compliance and integrity of your pain management.
5. Surveillance audits
Our annual surveillance audits help you continuously optimize your processes.
6. Certification renewal
A recertification audit takes place three years after the original audit and enables you to implement continuous improvement processes. You demonstrate to patients that you have taken steps toward a pain-free clinic for the long term.
