Our Global Team of Experts for Automated and Connected Driving

Rico Barth, Head of Competence Center Connected and Automated Driving
Rico Barth, Head of Competence Center Connected and Automated Driving

With our Global Competence Center for connected and automated driving, we have an international team of experts with many years of professional experience in the automotive industry. While our main focus is on Europe, China, Asia-Pacific and the USA, team members also work in all other regions of the world.

Our experts have developed new services as well as validation and test processes for ADAS and autonomous functionalities. Additionally, they are active in various test fields for software and diagnostics, especially in the areas of sensor technology, the vehicle-in-the-loop approach and the challenges of connectivity.

As leaders in understanding the fields of safety and sustainability, we offer various lectures and presentations addressing questions such as:

  • How can system complexity be dealt with?
  • What could the technical implementation of a future type approval for highly automated vehicles and infrastructure look like?
  • Which test methods must AI controlled vehicles undergo?
  • How can highly automated vehicles be tested for road safety?

Our Global Team of Experts for Alternative Drives

Martin Dillinger, Competence Center Alternative Drivetrains
Martin Dillinger, Competence Center Alternative Drivetrains

With our Electromobility Taskforce, we have an international team of experts with many years of professional experience in the automotive industry.

The main focus is on Europe, China, Asia-Pacific and the USA, but the team members also work in all other regions of the world.

Our experts develop new services as well as validation and test processes for the entire spectrum of electromobility. From the traction battery to the charging infrastructure.

Furthermore, we have been working on the subject of gas-powered vehicles, among other things, in the Competence Center for Alternative Propulsion Systems since the mid-1990s. In addition to the liquid gas (LPG) and natural gas/biogas (CNG as compressed methane and LNG as cryogenic gas) technologies that have been established for years, these include hydrogen (H2) drives.

As a thought leader for safety and sustainability, we deal in various lectures and presentations with questions on topics such as

  • How can the residual capacity of the traction battery and the associated residual value be identified accurately and independently?
  • Which drive technology is the most efficient, e.g. in public transport, taking into account the applications and general conditions?
  • What challenges does hydrogen pose in the motor vehicle and how can safe handling be ensured, e.g. in workshops?

Our Global Team of Experts for Digital Business Models for Future Mobility

Franziska Weiser, Head of Competence Center Mobility Digital Services
Franziska Weiser, Head of Competence Center Mobility Digital Services

In addition to new drive technologies and shifting driving operations from people to cars, digitalization will significantly change tomorrow's mobility - it will enable completely new business models.

In "Digital Mobility Services", we focus on issues facing tomorrow's mobility and develop answers to the following questions:

  • What potential can be tapped utilizing vehicle data?
  • What prerequisites must be met for this? As a neutral authority, we assume the role of “facilitator” for the digital mobility ecosystem of the future.

Our current focus is on a data trustee platform, digital fleet services, remote vehicle condition monitoring, digital damage management and much more.

As leaders in understanding the fields of safety and sustainability, we offer various lectures and presentations addressing questions such as:

  • What advantages can be achieved utilizing vehicle generated data in terms of safety, sustainability and people?
  • How can the rights of those affected be fully, transparently and comprehensibly ensured?
  • How can fair participation in digital business models be ensured?
  • Does new digital-supported vehicle condition monitoring increase road safety in the long term?
