Our compact Production Line Assessments (PLA) are suitable for newly implemented, existing, converted and relocated machines. Particularly when interlinking to form integrated systems, such as filling lines, a safety assessment is strongly recommended.
On request, we can expand the PLA checklist to include individual issues that are of special importance to your company in terms of design, installation, use, etc. Our PLA concludes with an overall evaluation according to a system agreed upon with you. A traffic light identifier for specific issues is an option, as is a grading or a binary "pass/fail" scheme.
An additional benefit for you is the internal benchmarking that our PLA checklist enables. If you use similar machines from different manufacturers, you can use our evaluations to see which of your suppliers is particularly strong in any given area.
Our extensive portfolio of services for machine safety goes far beyond all of the above. They range from the design and construction of a machine to workplace risk assessments as well as training for your personnel.
Our machine safety services at a glance:
- 1. Preliminary analysis based on documentation
- Sharing available documents (preliminary risk assessment, draft of the technical file/SISTEMA file, machine layout, other machine information, FAT checklist) with TÜV Rheinland at an early stage of the project – e.g., at the end of the prototype phase. The aim is to familiarize the involved auditors with the scope of the system and the main requirements, thus accelerating the next phases of the assessment process.
- 2. Pre-testing of the machine at the manufacturer's plant according to the Factory Acceptance Test checklist (FAT).
- This early inspection allows potential design problems to be caught in advance and corrective action to be taken before the machine is sent to the site.
- 3. Production Line Assessment (PLA): testing on site after installation of the machine.
- The testing of installed machines or entire lines is the cornerstone of machine safety. Our PLAs constitute a holistic testing program consisting of:
- On-site inspection of the installed machine - this also includes systems or lines consisting of multiple machines from different manufacturers and from different countries. We evaluate the interfaces between individual machines in accordance with the ISO 11161 Integrated Manufacturing Systems.
- Assessment based on national, international and company-specific guidelines.
- Recording and evaluation of electrical and mechanical risks
- Testing of ergonomics, operability and maintainability
- Customized reports
- Training of your company's safety experts
- The testing of installed machines or entire lines is the cornerstone of machine safety. Our PLAs constitute a holistic testing program consisting of:
- 4. Final CE conformity test at the company (optional)
- Our testing of the fully installed machine provides you with extensive protection for your declaration of conformity in accordance with CE. The most important references are the standards EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849-1, EN ISO 13857, EN 60204-1 (Electrical Safety) and others in connection with Side Acceptance Test (SAT).
- 5. Final risk assessment with regard to occupational safety in the company (optional)
