Innovation in vehicle evaluations: The adomea scanner

Innovation in vehicle evaluations: The adomea scanner | TÜV Rheinland

The leading automated vehicle evaluation system: our adomea scanner

The future of vehicle evaluation is automated – and we provide you with the most powerful system on the market for this purpose: the adomea scanner. Using high-resolution measuring technology, it quickly detects even the smallest irregularities in the vehicle surface such as chipped paint, stone chips, the finest scratches, repainting, rim damage and even previous foiling. It also makes damage to the underbody visible, which is particularly important when it comes to the transfer of liability of, as this is usually where the valuable battery is located.

Wherever vehicles change the owner or the liability risk passes from one company to another, our adomea scanner documents the condition of the vehicles in detail and in a legally secure manner. This means that it can be used profitably at many points in the automotive value chain: from the final inspection at the vehicle manufacturer to logistics providers, dealers, marketing platforms, leasing providers, insurers, sharing models and lessors, all the way to the recycler, it covers the entire life cycle of a vehicle.

Unique measurement technology in combination with artificial intelligence

The adomea scanner detects car body damage in the shortest possible time with the highest precision down to the micrometer range. Its unique measuring technology sets it apart from all other current systems. Unlike these, it not only uses high-resolution images, but also combines the inputs from HDR color images, surface reflectivity and surface curvature into an incomparably detailed evaluation based on artificial intelligence (AI).

In addition, the adomea scanner can filter and classify damage. Depending on the individual application, the user can define a threshold above which an event is evaluated as damage at all. OEMs who use the adomea scanner in final inspection usually choose the highest sensitivity because they want to eliminate even the smallest surface defects. In the case of lease returns, on the other hand, leasing providers usually opt for a higher threshold in accordance with common standards such as fair vehicle evaluation.

The adomea scanner is highly beneficial for vehicle evaluations:

  • flexible use
  • recording and documentation of even the smallest surface defects
  • visualization of the measurement results in transparent reports
  • filtering and classification of damages according to your requirements
  • if desired, recording of damage to the underbody

High-tech for your business: How the adomea scanner works

In simple terms, the scanner is a tunnel in which 50,000 individually controllable LEDs generate defined and changing light patterns that are reflected by the vehicle surface. After setup, commissioning and calibration, the adomea scanner measures the vehicle surface. For this purpose, 20 high-resolution cameras take a large number of images during the scanning process, which lasts approx. 45 seconds. The adomea scanner evaluates the three measurement dimensions - color image, reflectivity and surface curvature – using AI and thus detects any damage, no matter how small. In this way, the smallest deformations can be localized and classified.

We are currently the only inspection organization that operates such a powerful vehicle scanner. The immense experience of our experts and surveyors directly benefits the adomea scanner. Take advantage of this unique combination of experience, expertise and high-tech and learn more about how our adomea scanner can boost your business.
