Meeting the strict requirements of a food safety system according to the IFS Food Standard can be challenging, especially for smaller food processing and packaging companies. That's where the IFS Progress Food Program comes in. Designed as a multi-level approach, it helps these companies in developing and enhancing their food safety systems, leading to eventual IFS Food Certification.

This way, even small-scale businesses can demonstrate food safety management with reasonable effort, thereby ensuring compliance with the highest standards and increasing customer confidence in their products. Intrigued? Our TÜV Rheinland experts are ready to guide you towards enhanced transparency, safety, and trust.

The 3 levels of the IFS Global Markets Food Program
Requirements of the IFS Food Standard

Requirements of the IFS Food Standard

The IFS Progress Food Program is designed in levels to assist smaller companies and those lacking a food safety and quality process management system, without overwhelming them. Compared to the IFS Food Standard, its requirements catalogue is significantly streamlined, covering only 45% of the criteria at the basic level. This allows you to progressively implement requirements over three years, with each level introducing more stipulations.

In the third year, if desired, you can even attain the IFS Food Standard Certification. This framework offers flexibility to you and your business partners to choose the level and timeline for implementation or maintenance that best suits your needs.

Benefits of IFS Progress Food Certification

  • IFS Progress Food Program builds trust with your customers and business partners by demonstrating your compliance with legal and contractual requirements. It promotes transparency, comparability, and acceptance throughout your supply chain.
  • You have the flexibility to set the initial level and timeframe for implementing the IFS Progress Food Program, ensuring a consistent assessment system
  • The program lays a solid foundation for achieving the IFS Food Standard Certification.
  • The program's multi-level approach makes implementation costs manageable.
  • The IFS Progress Food Program facilitates both national and international market expansion.
  • As an IFS-certified business, you are included in the IFS database, increasing your visibility to potential partners worldwide, thus easing access to domestic and international markets.
