An assessment by the food experts from TÜV Rheinland

Establish transparency, trust and responsibility with us

The ISO 22000 is the comprehensive and internationally recognized standard for management systems in the food sector.

Food production and processing today is facing far higher demands than ever before. On the one hand, consumers want maximum transparency. They want to know where their food comes from, how it was produced and processed and how safety, quality, sustainability, and ethics have been ensured.

On the other hand, the food industry has the responsibility of proving to retailers, brokers, and other business partners that it has taken the necessary measures to fulfil its duty of care. It also shares responsibility for the reputation of major brands.

As an actor of the highly complex food supply chain, you therefore need to meet extremely high standards. At the same time, these standards offer great opportunities. A prerequisite is for you to prove the food safety and other characteristics of your processes according to internationally recognized standards. Such certifications are first and foremost a ticket-to-trade, i.e. without this proof it will be practically impossible to establish new business relationships in the food sector. Certifications will also strengthen existing business relationships and give you opportunities of achieving higher revenues through proven safety and quality.

The ISO 22000 - food safety management standard provides specific requirements for a food safety management system that will enhance your ability to consistently deliver products and services that meet customer, as well as statutory and regulatory demands.

We are your competent partner in obtaining certification according to ISO 22000. As an accredited certification body, we guide you through the certification process for your processes and systems.

ISO 22000 – An internationally reputable standard

ISO 22000 is the first truly international standard for Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) - initially published on September 1, 2005, by International Standards Organization (ISO).

It sets out the requirements for organizations, directly or indirectly, involved in the food and feed industries, need to implement in order to demonstrate their abilities to control food safety hazards and ensure that food is safe for consumption.

The ISO 22000 standard is compatible and harmonized with other international management system standards, including ISO 9001. It is ideal for integration with existing management systems and processes.

ISO 22000 aims to provide:

  • An international harmonization in the field of food safety, where it offers a tool to implement HACCP Programme (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) throughout the food supply chain;
  • Facilitate the process of complying with food-related legislation, in order to protect public health, by applying uniform practices for detecting and preventing contamination, minimizing or eliminating risks, optimizing food controls and establishing traceability systems thus keeping food safe, from farm to fork;
  • Solution to food crises which continue to arise due to the globalisation of food supply chains creating uncertainty regarding the origin of food products.

Create transparency, safety, and trust in an end-to-end, globalized food supply chain. We support you by auditing and certifying your processes and management systems.
