USA - Safety Standards for Full-Size Baby Cribs and Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs

In December 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a mandatory consumer product safety standard for non-full-size baby cribs (NFS cribs) based on ASTM F406, with modifications excluding sections related solely to play yards.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), standards for durable infant or toddler products must be updated when the voluntary standard they are based on is revised.

On August 1, 2024, ASTM approved a revised version of the standard, ASTM F406-24. Consequently, the CPSC issued a direct final rule to update the mandatory standard to incorporate this revision by reference.
This rule is scheduled to take effect on April 5, 2025, unless significant adverse comments are received by March 3, 2025.
If any significant adverse comments are received by that date, the Commission will withdraw the rule before its effective date.

Until the rule takes effect, a read-only copy of the updated standard ASTM F406-24 can be accessed on ASTM's website.
After the rule's effective date, it will be available for viewing in ASTM's reading library, and copies can be purchased from ASTM International.
