USA - New York bans PFAS in apparel
New York prohibits sale of apparel containing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as intentionally added chemicals, effective December 31, 2023.
The Governor of the State signed the bill A7063 / S6291 into law on December 30, 2022. This would amend article 37 of the Environmental Conservation Law (ECL).
Apparel, e.g. undergarments, shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, overalls, bodysuits, vests, dancewear, suits, saris, scarves, tops, leggings, leisurewear, formal wear, onesies, bibs, and diapers, etc but excluding professional uniforms or outerwear intended for extreme conditions.
