USA - Minnesota Proposed to Ban PFAS in Certain Products

​Minnesota proposed to ban per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in certain consumer products if they contains intentionally added PFAS, effective on January 1, 2025:

- carpets or rugs
- cleaning products
- cookware
- cosmetics
- dental floss
- fabric treatments
- juvenile products
- menstruation products
- textile furnishings
- ski wax or
- upholstered furniture

​Moreover, on or before January 1, 2026, a manufacturer of a product sold, offered for sale, or distributed in Minnesota that contains intentionally added PFAS must submit to the commissioner the following information:

1. A brief description or the product, including a universal product code (UPC), stock keeping unit (SKU), or other numeric code assigned to the product
2. The purpose for which PFAS are used in the product, including in any product components
3. The amount of each PFAS in the product
4. The name and address of the manufacturer and the name, address, and phone number of a contact person for the manufacturer
5. Any additional information requested by the commissioner
