USA - FCC Adopts 'C-V2X' Auto Safety Spectrum Rules
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted final rules for the use of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology in the 5.9 GHz band.
These rules are aimed at improving transportation safety by transitioning Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) from the older Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) technology to C-V2X technology, allowing for direct communication between vehicles, infrastructure, and vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians.
The rules will generally take effect 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
Specific provisions, including the two-year transition completion, will begin from the publication date of the report.
