USA - Emergency Alert System; Wireless Emergency Alerts
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has revised the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) rules to allow alert originators to send "silent alerts" that omit the usual audio attention signal and vibration cadence, providing greater flexibility in how WEA messages are presented.
Additionally, the FCC has adopted a formal definition of a "WEA-capable mobile device" to ensure that any device marketed as such complies with all WEA requirements.
