USA - CPSC Approves Final Rule to Implement eFiling for Certificates of Compliance

​The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a new rule to implement electronic filing (eFiling) of Certificate information for regulated, imported consumer products. The goal is to enhance the targeting of high-risk shipments and improve consumer safety.


eFiling Requirements:

- Applicable to all imported consumer products subject to mandatory safety standards, including de minimis shipments.

- Importers must electronically file various data elements at the time of entry, such as:

- Identification of the finished product.

- Party certifying compliance.

- Consumer product safety rules the product was certified against.

- Date and place of manufacture.

- Details of the most recent compliance testing.

- Contact information for the person maintaining test records.
