Singapore - Updates on Exemptions for Dechlorane Plus and UV-328 in Singapore
On May 6, 2024, Singapore Nationa Environment Agency(NEA) informed industry stakeholders via a circular titled “Updates on Elimination of
Dechlorane Plus, Methoxychlor, and UV-328, with Certain Specific Exemptions, under the Stockholm Convention”
that the manufacture, import and export of these substances, as well as products containing them, will not be
allowed in Singapore from February 26, 2025 onwards, in line with the deadline stipulated by the Stockholm Convention.
After Industry stakeholders feedback and careful consideration by NEA, NEA has decided to exempt the uses
and applications, as listed in ANNEX I, from the requirement to eliminate Dechlorane Plus and UV-328.
The effective date to phase out the manufacture, import and export of Dechlorane Plus and UV-328, and
their products, for other uses and applications that are not listed in ANNEX I, remains as February 26, 2025.
