​Mexico National  Commission  for  the Efficient Use of Energy through the National Advisory Committee on Standardization for the Conservation and Rational Use of Energy Resources (CCNNPURRE​)​ announces the Draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-014-ENER-2024: Energy efficiency of air-cooled single-phase squirrel-cage electric AC induction motors with a rated output of 0.180 kW to 2.238 kW. Limits, test method and marking.

This draft Mexican Official Standard establishes the minimum energy efficiency values, test method, marking requirements and conformity assessment procedure applicable to single rotational frequency, continuous duty, open- or closed-loop, air-cooled, single-phase squirrel-cage electric AC induction motors with a rated output of 0.180 kW to 2.238 kW, 2, 4 or 6 poles, split-phase, capacitor-start, or with two capacitors, or connected with a permanent capacitor, which are imported, manufactured or marketed within the United Mexican States. 

It safeguards legitimate public interest objective IX on the use and exploitation of natural resources, as provided for in the Law on Quality Infrastructure. 

It does not apply to electric motors that require auxiliary or additional cooling equipment.
