Mexico - Declaration of Validity of NMX-J-521-2-91-ANCE-2019 on Lawn Trimmers

​On 19th March, 2020, the Ministry of Economy through the General Directorate of Standards, issued this declaration of validity of Mexican Standard NMX-J-521-2-91-ANCE-2019 in the Official Journal.
This Mexican Standard specifies the safety characteristics for walk-behind and hand-held lawn trimmers and lawn edge trimmers, with cutting elements without linear metallic filaments or free-spinning non-metallic cutters, with a kinetic energy less than or equal to than 10 J (10 Nm) each, which is used by an operator to mow the lawn, with an assigned voltage less than or equal to 250 V ac or 50 V dc.
In this Mexican Standard, the cutters and edgers that are held by hand and of the mobile type, are referred to together as an apparatus.
As applicable, this standard considers the common risks that occur for these devices that can be found during normal use and their reasonably foreseeable misuse by anyone.

This standard shall enter into force 180 days following the publication in the Official Journal.
