Japan - Partial amendment of Regulations for Terminal Facilities, and Establishment and Partial Amendment of Relevant Public Notices

Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will add provisions that specify the functions required for Internet protocol mobile telephone terminals to implement interca​rrier roaming into the Regulations for Terminal Facilities and  establish a new public notice to describe the details of these functions.

Moreover, MIC will amend the relevant public notice to specify the functions required for terminal equipment connected to private leased circuit facilities, etc. to implement intercarrier roaming.

In addition, MIC will provide some exceptions to the functions that business telecommunications facilities for mobile phones should be equipped with, based on technically unavoidable restrictions when intercarrier roaming is conducted in an emergency.
