Global - ZDHC MRSL Version 2 - Smart Testing Grid
The ZDHC Roadmap to Zero initiative has released the second version of its Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL Version 2.0).
ZDHC's mission is to advance toward zero discharge of hazardous chemicals in the textile and footwear supply chain and act to improve the environment and people's well-being. The ZDHC MRSL is a list of chemical substances that should be banned from intentionally use by the industry in the production of textile, apparel, leather and footwear.
Chemicals in the ZDHC MRSL include solvents, cleaners, adhesives, paints, inks, detergents, dyes, colorants, auxiliaries, coatings and finishing agents used during raw material production, wet-processing, maintenance, wastewater treatment, sanitation and pest control.
With the new update, many chemicals now added to the list of restricted substances, including restrictions for new substrates in rubber, foams and adhesives.
The second version of its MRSL Version 2.0 includes not only updates on technical nature but also more than 60 newly added substances and additional substance classes like:
- Anti- Microbial & Biocides
- Chlorinated Paraffins
- Dyes – Azo (Forming Restricted Amines)
- Dyes – Carcinogenic or Equivalent Concern
- Flame Retardants
- Halogenated Solvents
- Bisphenol A (BPA)
- Quinoline
- Perfluorinated and Polyfluorinated Chemicals (PFCs),
- Phthalates,
- UV Absorbers
Helping the industry prepare for future restricted chemicals ZDHC has added one new chapter to the list “MRSL Candidate List" as well as “Archived Substances".
