Europe - Proposals to Identify new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) September 2024
On August 30, 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on the 32nd update of the candidate list for authorization under REACH.
The public consultation will close on October 14, 2024.
SVHC identification is based on the hazard properties of a substance. Comments and further information on uses, volumes per use, exposure, alternatives and risks of the substance are also welcome from all interested parties.
The amendment proposes the inclusion of six additional chemicals that are considered to be of high concern due to their high hazard properties.
If the Member State Committee (MSC) supports these nominations, the list of SVHCs would be expanded from the current 241 to a total of 247 by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
