Argentina - Update on Product Safety Certification of Electrical and Electronic Equipment - Resolution No.169/2018 Repealed
On November 7, 2024, the Argentinean government promulgated Resolution S.I.C N° 237/2024 and Disposition D.N.R.T. N° 1/2024. These legislations introduce comprehensive modifications to the existing and forthcoming technical regulations concerning product safety in Argentina (hereinafter referred to as the Frame Regulation).
In alignment with these new legislations, on February 25, 2025, Resolution S.C. N° 169/2018, which pertains to the Product Safety Certification of electrical and electronic products, was superseded by three new technical regulations:
a) Resolution S.I.C. N°16/2025: Applicable to Power Supplies and Chargers, Household Appliances, Lighting Devices, and Electronic and Audio & Video Products.
b) Resolution S.I.C. N°17/2025: Pertains to Machines and Tools powered by motors.
c) Resolution S.I.C. N°236/2024 (and its amendment, Resolution S.I.C. N° 26/2025): Focuses on Electrical Installation Materials.
Despite these new implementations, most products previously regulated under Resolution S.C. N° 169/2018 continue to be regulated under these revised schemes. Detailed information can be found in the annexes corresponding to each Resolution.
The Declaration of Conformity, as established by the Frame Regulation, remains mandatory and unaltered. Furthermore, the new conformity marking requirements, which include the QR code as stipulated in Resolution 237/2024, have been deferred to October 1, 2025.
