TÜV Rheinland to Certify Imported Used Cars in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia | 30 June, 2024

As an ultimate and trusted body for providing conformity assessments and Certificates of Conformity (COC), we are thrilled to announce a new strategic collaboration with Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization SASO. This partnership will ensure unparalleled quality and satisfaction for our clients, while also assisting governments in verifying compliance of imported used cars with national and international regulations, and facilitating smooth market access into Saudi Arabia by helping our customers navigate complex regulatory requirements pre the consignment.

A Certificate of Conformity for customs clearance is necessary when exporting used vehicles to Saudi Arabia. A declaration has been formally translated into action after the announcement by SASO and has been strictly enforced in the country to adhere to the new regulation for imported used cars in Saudi Arabia. The program is compulsory and designed to ensure that the state and standards of the used car meet the criteria set by SASO before being consigned to the country of destination Saudi Arabia. Hence, to allow a seamless entry into the country, customers are required to undergo a conformity assessment inspection and obtain a Certificate of Conformity via SABER platform.

“We have been collaborating with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) for two decades and are proud to be the first approved body for used cars import into Saudi Arabia” said Mr. Tamer Qazza, General Manager for Government Inspections and International Trade. “We are thrilled to expand our services to include inspections of the used cars imported to KSA, and the issuance of Certificates of Conformity (COC) through the SABER platform. Mr. Tamer goes on to declare “Importers now have the option to request a COC through SABER platform and choose TÜV Rheinland as their Inspection Body. Our globally recognized and accredited team will manage the request processing and coordinate the conformity assessment, ultimately issuing a COC via SABER platform to confirm the vehicle's conformity, which is crucial for a seamless clearance process at Saudi Customs.”

In alignment with SASO the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and in compliance with its rigorous quality criteria, our goal is to aid the Saudi government in confirming the adherence of imported used cars to both domestic and global standards. Additionally, to streamline the process by utilizing the online Conformity Certificate on the "SABER" platform, assist our customers in navigating the intricate regulatory requirements in Saudi Arabia, thus enabling them a smooth pre-shipment process and a fluid access to the market guaranteeing that used cars meet the relevant SASO Technical Regulations and Standards, providing importers with confidence in the quality and reliability of the vehicle they wish to import into Saudi Arabia or export from other countries.
