TŰV Rheinland Food Safety Conference 2019
Advancing Food Safety through Local Policies and Global Standards
According to the World Health Organization there are about 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses every year. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations also reported that in the Asia Pacific region, there is an estimated 225,000 people who die annually from foodborne illnesses. In the Philippines, 209 foodborne disease outbreaks (FBDOs) were reported from 2005 to 2018, according to a study conducted by the Department of Food Science and Nutrition of the University of the Philippines.
In order to address this issue, Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) have been developed several decades ago and these protocols have been effective in eliminating and mitigating food safety risks. In addition, the Muslim community have also created the “Halal Certification Scheme” not only to address food safety issues but also to promote the Halal way of life.
This conference is recommended for
Functional leaders or in-charge; Key personnel directly handling food; ISO certification or FSMS project team members
