USA - Mandatory Federal Energy Efficiency Program & Energy Guide Label
Ensure mandatory Energy Efficiency Label for your products
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) operates an Energy Conservation Program for Consumer Products and Commercial and Industrial Equipment. The ‘Code of Federal Regulations’ (CFR) in its Title 10 Part 429 stipulates regulated products and the determination & enforcement of their compliance as well as procedures for certification (including e.g. sampling plan for test units, determination of represented values and certification report contents). Test procedures for the measurement of energy and water consumption can be found in Part 430 of the same CFR title.
The ’Energy Labelling Rule’ (16 CFR Part 305) stipulates ‘Energy and water use labelling’ for consumer products under the afore mentioned Energy Conservation Program. The scheme is operated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and covers consumer products like major home appliances, lamps and heating equipment. The labeling shall help consumers compare competing product models.
Those home appliances in scope of the ‘Energy Labelling Rule’ are required to bear Energy Labels with given contents, layout, format and placement.
