United Kingdom - Simple Pressure Vessels (Safety) Regulations 2016

Show compliance with the Simple Pressure Vessels (Safety) Regulations 2016 by UKCA certification

The ‘Simple Pressure Vessels (Safety) Regulations 2016’ set out the requirements which must be met before products within their scope can be placed on the UK market. There are different requirements according to the category of vessel. Category A vessels (product of PS x V exceeds 50 bar.L.) must be designed and manufactured in accordance with the ‘essential safety requirements’. Compliance with the terms of a ‘designated standard’ (technical specification adopted by a recognised standardisation body) is one way to demonstrate compliance with the ‘essential safety requirements’. Category B vessels (product of PS x V is 50 bar.L or less) must be designed and manufactured in accordance with sound engineering practice. Simple pressure vessels can pose a danger to human safety if not handled and assessed properly and therefore must be certified by an approved body. Vessels placed on the market with a CE marking by 31 December 2022 can continue to circulate on the GB market after this date. Different requirements may apply in Northern Ireland. TUV Rheinland is in the process of becoming a UK Approved Body for the ‘Simple Pressure Vessels (Safety) Regulations 2016’. Make use of our long-term experience as a Notified Body to the EU Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/29/EU) and ask how we can help you efficiently secure simple pressure vessel approval for your products !
