South Africa - SABS Certificate of Compliance
Export EMC compliant products to South Africa
In 2016, the ‘Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)’ and ‘South African Bureau of Standards (SABS)’, signed a MoU to prevent low quality electronic products from entering the South African market. Electronic equipment (non-telecommunication) in the scope of ICASA will be subject to SABS- instead of ICASA conformity assessment. Testing for EMC-compliance for the wide range of regulated products has to be performed by authorized labs and bases base on internationally recognized the standard schemes., like those of TUV Rheinland. Relevant standards are stipulated as ‘measurement method’ per product category. Upon successful testing and provision of required documents (application, User’s Manual, Product Specification, contact data of manufacturer and – for imported equipment – of the local representative), SABS will issue a ‘Certificate of Compliance’.
