Electrical products designed for household use and intended for sale in Hong Kong are covered by the Electrical Products Safety Regulation (EPSR). The EPSR distinguishes between prescribed products and non-prescribed products. Prescribed products include: plugs, adaptors, lamp holders, flexible cords, extension units and unvented thermal storage type electric water heaters. Products other than the 6 types of prescribed products mentioned above are considered non-prescribed products. To comply with the Hong Kong EPSR, the manufacturer or importer has to obtain testing and certification of their products.
