Great Britain – Equipment .. for .. Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016
Open the doors to Great Britain for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
The 2016 Regulations require equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres to comply with a number requirements before they can be placed on the GB market. Manufacturers need to prove safety of their products by meeting ‘essential health and safety requirements’, carry out the relevant conformity assessment procedure and draw up the technical documentation. Monitoring and specific labelling (incl. UKCA Mark) / packaging of products are further duties of the manufacturer. Importers and distributors in their roles must ensure that manufacturers have fulfilled their duties. Our explosion protection experts help you to determine which certification route is most suitable for your product and will support you in complying with the required guidelines and requirements. The UK will allow CE marked equipment the compliance of which has been demonstrated through assessment by an EU notified body to be placed on the GB market until 31 December 2022. Different requirements may apply in Northern Ireland. TUV Rheinland is in the process of becoming a UK Approved Body for the ‘Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016’. Make use of our more than 20 years experience as a Notified Body to the EU ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU).
