Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry (PAI) operates an Energy Efficiency Registration System (EERS) for direct expansion (DX) air conditioners with capacities up to 70,000 BTU/h. Manufacturers and retailers must ensure DX air conditioners comply with the local Kuwait KWS 1893:2018 standard and undergo the PAI registration procedure.
Starting from October 8th, 2024, four additional product groups are required to fulfill energy efficiency requirements as described in local Kuwaiti standards:
- Rotating electrical machines (KWS 1897:2023)
- Electric Clothes Driers (KWS 1898:2023)
- Electric Clothes Washing Machines (KWS 1899:2023)
- Refrigerators, refrigerators-freezers and freezers (KWS 1900:2023)
