The ‘Regulatory Norm nº12 (NR-12)’ was issued by Ordinance MTb No. 3,214 in 1978 and completely revised in 2010. Its annexes provide general and specific safety principles on e.g. electrical and control circuit or pressurized components. Furthermore, aspects like maintenance, inspection, preparation, adjustment, repair and cleaning are detailed. Annex I to XII detail requirements for specific machinery components and kind of machinery, like access means or Plastic Injection Moulding Machines respectively. The technical references, principles and protective measures stipulated are to ensure the health and physical integrity of workers and establish minimum requirements for the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases in the phases of design, manufacture, importation, marketing, exhibition and transfer of the machinery and equipment.
