India - BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme
Complete compulsory registration as enforced by the BIS with our testing services
For specific electronic and electrical products intended for the Indian market, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) along with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) require testing and certification before market entry. Such products must adhere to provisions of the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS). Local and foreign manufacturers, importers and distributers must obtain BIS compulsory registration for currently 61 regulated product types: 56 ‘Electronics and IT Goods’ and 5 ‘Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices and Components’, introduced during the Phases 1 to 4 of the BIS CRS scheme roll-out. Recently there has been a further extension of implementation date of BIS CRS scheme Phase 5 to October 1st, 2021. Products regulated in Phase 5 cover seven new products (see ‘Product Scope’). Testing by accredited facilities is an essential part of the registration process. As one of the first recognized by the BIS, our India laboratory can support testing to prove compliance for regulated products as per Indian Standards (IS). Ask our experts how you can gain BIS compulsory registration for your electronic and IT products !
