Cybersecurity in Automotive acc. to ISO/SAE 21434

Cybersecurity in Automotive acc. to ISO/SAE 21434

TÜV Rheinland Germany

The new standard ISO/SAE 21434 "Road vehicles - Cybersecurity engineering" defines security standards considering current and future challenges of cybersecurity in automotive engineering.

Nowadays vehicles are already equipped with wireless interfaces allowing potential attackers to access the internal vehicle network. Planned concepts for a wireless vehicle infrastructure will present further challenges to security managers.

The international Standard ISO/SAE 21434 is intended to be a common basis for automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. The standard refers to the security aspects of electrical and electronic systems over the entire life cycle.

In this training, the contents and objectives of the standard are presented and discussed in detail.

Participants receive a basic overview of the techniques for specification, analysis and testing for a consistent and conclusive proof of security.

The content focuses on the organizational requirements for a cybersecurity management system, as well as techniques and measures for analyzing risks and mitigating vulnerabilities in the individual lifecycle phases from security concept to decommissioning.

In particular, the challenges of highly distributed development in the automotive industry as well as establishing new testing methods such as vulnerability scanning, fuzzing and penetration testing are taken into account.

The practice-oriented part of the training shows how the requirements of ISO/SAE 21434 are implemented in project examples and what impact this has on existing processes.

The goal of the training is to provide participants with information supporting them to …

  1. … recognize and identify cybersecurity aspects, typical hazards and threats.
  2. … analyse and evaluate cybersecurity aspects and threats using targeted methods.
  3. … define security goals for the company and integrate them into existing processes.

Target Group

SW and HW developers, project managers, QM managers, system architects, security managers of OEMs and their suppliers.
