TÜV Rheinland provides a full range of services to support the closure of high hazard process plants with no disruption to ongoing operations.
We can help to evaluate and select the best option when considering either full or partial closure of manufacturing assets, from front end optioneering through to final site regeneration.
Our services include:
- Mothballing studies
- Comprehensive estimates and risk assessments of remediation and demolition projects
- Decommissioning and enabling work for cost effective and safe demolition
- Project management of demolition and remediation projects
Our approach is based on a unique blend of operational experience and technical knowledge. We ensure that all projects are done safely, cost effectively and maximise the value of the assets. Our experience at the front end of projects ensures that beneficial project options are not excluded by costly omissions early on in the process.
The challenges of offshore decommissioning are ever-increasing.
As the knowledge of what has to be done increases, so do the predicted costs. There remains an absolute requirement to cause no damage to people, the environment or an operator’s reputation.
Much of the effort is going into developing more cost-effective methods and techniques for decommissioning, without compromising safety or environmental performance. Many of these lower-cost options rely on getting some decisions right, many years before an asset is finally decommissioned.
The link between final project costs and the decisions made during late life operation are becoming clearer - certainly some hard, and costly, lessons have been learned.
TÜV Rheinland engineers have developed cost-effective approaches for decommissioning, which they have learned through long experiences in the field.
