Our Trusted Data Hub ensures the secure, confidential handling of your vehicle data.

As an independent data trust authority, we ensure that sensitive information is processed in a transparent manner and stored securely. This is how we create trust – for vehicle manufacturers, fleet operators and drivers alike.

Your vehicle data are secure with our Trusted Data Hub

The digitalization of vehicles creates challenges, but also provides great opportunities for an efficient fleet management. Our Trusted Data Hub helps to unlock this potential in a targeted way and to make it usable for fleet managers.

Franziska Weiser, Head of Digital Mobility Services

The data streams of connected vehicles can yield many benefits, such as new business models, better vehicle safety or insights for optimizing future vehicles. However, the success of these data-based business models depends on whether drivers trust the data security and allow their data to be shared. To strengthen this trust and to enable new business models for all parties involved, TÜV Rheinland, as an independent data trust authority, developed the Trusted Data Hub.

Digitalization and connectivity, the Internet of Things (IoT) and automated driving functions are producing more and more data, offering new opportunities to generate added value from these data. This allows the development of new services such as pay-as-you-drive models that provide a constantly updated picture of the vehicle's condition. Additionally, in the future, many questions could be answered directly, such as: Were all over-the-air updates uploaded by the manufacturer installed correctly? Have there been any hacker attacks? Are there faults in the electrical systems? Our Trusted Data Hub provides reliable answers to these and other questions, offering you as the user a wide range of options and benefits.

How the Trusted Data Hub works

The data generated by the vehicle are collected by the Trusted Data Hub. It checks whether there is a link to a person and what authorizations that person has provided regarding the data. Based on those factors, the data are forwarded to the authorized service. The person has transparent access to the granted authorizations at all times. The platform harmonizes the different OEM-specific data formats and, thanks to the Trusted Data Hub, ensures GDPR-compliant data processing for the fleet operator. TÜV Rheinland or external partners can use these data to develop relevant services for the fleet operator, such as automated claims management, risk assessments, driver training or monitoring and optimizing the state of traction batteries. Our Trusted Data Hub can also be used to implement a continuous digital vehicle check.

Using telematics data directly from the OEM backend

During regular operation, modern vehicles generate a wide range of different data that fleet operators can use for providing efficient and needs-oriented services. Here are a few examples.

Four steps to a digital fleet

How do the vehicle data find their way into the Trusted Data Hub? How is the comparability of the data ensured? How can you use this information for your services? The interactive images below will guide you step by step through the process of digitizing your telematics data with the Trusted Data Hub.

Onboarding
Conformity Check

Onboarding

The process starts with entering the vehicle identification number (VIN) into the Trusted Data Hub. This unique identifier is used to identify the vehicle and to initiate the data release.

×

Conformity Check

In the next step, the Trusted Data Hub automatically checks the conformity and availability of the vehicle data with the respective OEMs. Only approved and data protection-compliant data are sent for further processing.

Confirmation
Use of the service
×

Confirmation

The release of the data is confirmed via secure interfaces. This ensures that all necessary authorizations are obtained and documented accordingly.

Use of the service

Once the approval process has been completed, the vehicle data are made available in real time. You can use these data directly for fleet services, analyses, or optimizations.

How to connect your data to the Trusted Data Hub

Depending on the platform technology, scale or maturity level, IT infrastructures in companies can vary greatly. To meet your specific technological requirements, you can choose between three different options for connecting your telematics data to our Trusted Data Hub.
