Safety Engineer - SEPTA PTC System Deployment
SEPTA has undertaken a multiyear project to design and install a PTC system. This system satisfies the PTC mandate and is under FRA jurisdiction. This project is to provide client safety program services to SEPTA in support of their PTC system deployment.
RSC Is part of the consultant team overseeing the contractor’s work on the the PTC system design for SEPTA’s Regional Rail operation, which is governed by the FRA Part 236I rule and its requirements. RSC’s role is to ensure that the client safety specifications and FRA regulations are followed for the contractor supplying the system. RSC will also ensure that the vendor’s onboard equipment, wayside equipment, Vital Safety Server equipment, and their integration and interoperability with host and tenant railroads is safe, and prevents operating hazards. RSC is also responsible for making sure that the PTCSP is adequate and reviewing the vendor’s design and implementation for meeting all FRA requirements.
Specific project elements include: project management, development of safety submittals, and PTC certification support.
