For the Canarsie Line communications-based train control (CBTC) project, RSC’s role involved independently assessing the safety of the system’s implementation. RSC’s personnel have a long history with the CBTC ISA work for the Canarsie Line having been involved with the project throughout most of its design, implementation and certification since 1998.

Having been involved with the project through all of its phases, RSC staff led many critical areas of the ISA activities including establishing the certification process, performing independent assessments of the key software algorithms, providing independent safety analyses and providing direct input to the SSCB in making recommendations for revenue service readiness. RSC staff have acted in a program management role on the Canarsie Line CBTC ISA project and have a thorough understanding of the critical elements of a successful CBTC ISA program within the NYCT operating environment.
