Initial situation and requirements
In contrast to selective energy conservation, the management system of a company permanently helps to increase efficiency. Employees at all levels of the company are involved. That’s how P&G specifically trains its employees with regards to energy saving. Prior to the successful certification, auditing teams from TÜV Rheinland carefully analyzed the processes on-site at the various locations of P&G for a week.
With over 13,000 employees in Germany and around 126,000 employees worldwide, P&G is one of the biggest consumer goods companies in the world marketing around 40 brands in Germany and numerous more worldwide.

Given the energy scarcity and rising energy costs, the issue of energy management for both medium-sized as well as large companies is becoming increasingly important. Thus an energy management system according to ISO 50001 not only offers the foundation for greater energy efficiency , but also for possible tax breaks or other benefits. Since 2011, TÜV Rheinland is accredited as one of the first inspection organizations in Germany for certification according to ISO 50001.
