Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and suitably qualified assessor to join our Notified Body team. The role will involve conducting on-site conformity assessments to assess pressure systems and components before they are placed in the UK (UKCA) or European Union (CE) and preparing cost estimates and commercial quotations for the required works. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements, such as the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and is familiar with CE and UKCA marking of pressure vessels. Knowledge and experience with certification of structural steel and aluminium fabricators in accordance with EN 1090 and Quality Management for Welding to BS EN ISO 3834 is also desirable. 

Job Description

  • Understand client needs and assist in the delivery of tailored, pragmatic solutions.
  • Liaise with TUV Rheinland Industrial Services Sales team in identifying potential clients and assist in generating quotations and cost estimates for inspection and survey services.
  • Conduct on-site and desk top assessments which will involve reviewing technical documentation, testing, inspections and audits, to ensure compliance with legal requirements. 
  • Experience of conformity assessments to CE and UKCA marking.
  • Conduct Product and Process Audits assessing whether products comply with relevant standards.
  • Conduct a Technical Documentation review ensuring technical files and design information conform to relevant requirements.
  • Carry out surveillance audits to maintain product certification.
  • Support the development and improvement of NoBo certification and inspection processes and services within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, customer contracts, and industry regulations.
     

What we expect of you?

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in conformity assessment of pressure systems within the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive.

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng, or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

 

Essential skills:

  • Experience of working within a Notified Body environment including the conformity assessment of pressure systems.
  • Relevant accreditation or certification to inspect pressure systems (e.g., ASME, API 510, EEMUA 231).
  • Knowledge of relevant UK and EU legislation, including PED, PSSR.
  • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel within the UK.
  • Experience of welding procedure and welder qualification (WPQR/WQT etc) to ASME or BS EN 15614/9606

 

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience with NoBo for Pressure Systems business, managing quotations and cost estimates for inspection work.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Knowledge of certification of structural steel and aluminium fabricators in accordance with EN 1090.
  • Knowledge of certification to EN ISO 3834.
