Job Summary

TUV Rheinland industrial services is looking for a Inspection Engineer CAT 4. The Inspector reports to the Local Head of department / Team Leader / Inspection Engineer for team of Inspection staff. For large shutdowns the inspector is required to coordinate their work with other inspectors. For repairs and fitness for service the inspector coordinates with the CAT 2 Inspection Engineer and functional engineers to define the optimum solution . 

 

This role focuses on Inspection of pressurised static equipment e.g. vessels, tanks, piping, relief devices, to meet regulatory and client requirements.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Examination of pressurised static equipment in accordance with the Written Scheme of Examination  WSE.
  • Undertaking simple NDT – ultrasonic thickness checks, magnetic particle, dye penetrant.
  • Preparation of clear reports including photographs.
  • Assessment of deterioration.

 

Position Interactions:

  • This role requires interaction with client maintenance managers and technical staff. Also, the Inspector will on behalf of TÜV or the client coordinate NDE contractors.
  • Other Inspectors, Senior Inspection Engineers, Inspection Managers, Client Operations and Maintenance staff.

  • Working at heights and in confined spaces  
  • Willing to work extended hours to cover maintenance events  

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential     

  • Good verbal and written communication skills  
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures                           
  • Understanding of engineering principles     
  • Ability to interact and work with others 
  • Mechanical Engineering background

 
Desirable 

  • Experience in chemical and/or oil and gas sector 
  • Appreciation of pressure equipment 
  • Experience / appreciation of non-destructive examination techniques (NDT)


Qualifications and Experience 

  • Trained/qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Engineering Technician status desirable  
  • 5 years of experience working within a relevant engineering discipline e.g. mechanical technician.
